Weekly Update: September 4

As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to receiving our students on Tuesday, September 6th.

We’d like to give KUDOS to all of our new parents who have gotten off to a great start with earning volunteer hours! You are well on your way with completing your first eight volunteer hours by the end of the semester. We appreciate your presence and sincerely thank you for your assistance in many areas around the school!

Summer Learning Projects are required for all Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School students. Projects for returning students were due on Friday, August, 12th. We have offered an extension for all students new to Wynbrooke. The new deadline for new students to submit the projects is now Tuesday, September 6th. Please visit the website for more information.

New Dates for Curriculum Night:
We are looking forward to seeing you this week for our annual Curriculum Nights, which are designed to provide you with important information about our school data, our instructional priorities, and teaching and learning at Wynbrooke. We want to equip you with information and resources that will encourage student learning at home! Please plan to attend.

Wednesday, September 7th K-2 6:00 PM-7:30 PM
Thursday, September 8th 3-5 6:00-7:30 PM

Our second Title I Pre-Planning Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 8th 9:00 AM-10:00 AM.

Please plan to support our Movie Night, which will be sponsored by our PTA. This event will be held on Friday, September 9th in our amphitheater. Tickets are on sale now.

Parents, please help us protect your child’s instructional time! Our instructional day begins promptly at 7:45 AM and ends at 2:15 PM. To ensure that all students have the benefit of a full instructional day, we strive to minimize class interruptions with teacher phone calls, drop-in conferences, class deliveries, etc. If you would like to speak with your child’s teacher feel free to drop by between 7:30 AM-7:45 AM or at a time that is arranged with the teacher. We encourage you to contact your child’s teacher if you would like to schedule a conference.

Reflection: If 5 parents are allowed to “drop by” your child’s 60 minute math class for 5 minute conversations, how much math instruction would your child NOT receive? Twenty-five minutes from any subject is too much time taken away from teaching and learning.

Thanks in advance for helping us maximize our students’ instructional time!
